Thursday Thoughts

Not much going on around my little house today. Bob and I had to run out to WalMart today to get some things we were out of... all those taxable items that I won't get at the grocery store because they're too expensive.

I had to do some more work for my boss today. These 2 auctions he has coming up is keeping us both busy.

We just heard on the news there was another murder in the county just south of us. The man is still on the run and could be headed this way. We're all on alert for his vehicle. This is getting crazy. We used to live in such a safe area.

My youngest grandson will be 6 yrs. old next week. It's hard to believe. My daughter is having a party for him, but it's also a party for her. His birthday is the 17th... her's is the 15th. And I don't have the slightest idea what to give either one of them. She keeps telling us -- NO MORE TOYS. Ok, but what about  Bryan?

I've been hearing all day today of several companies beginning to lay off workers. And so it begins.  Obummer told employers to wait until after the election to announce any lay-offs. Which is illegal. But has he done anything legal since 2008?

Yesterday we watched the stock market take a big dip and the price of gasoline jump up 30¢ a gal.!! More Obamanomics.

I'm thankful for my mother. She raised 3 of us on her own. She worked a hard, tiring job in a uniform factory, sewing men's pants, for a small wage, just to keep a roof over our heads, food on our table, and clothes on our backs. Our father walked out on us when we were young and she had to be mother and father both. She taught me so very much. She was the strongest woman I know. She died in 1989 and a day doesn't go by that I don't think of her and miss her.

Well, it's time to get ready for bed. I have a few things to take care of first, then I have a date with a good book.

Tomorrow is Friday already. You know what that means ...................... the weekend!!

Take care.
God bless.

The day after the election

All day I've felt lost, like the slats have been pulled out from under me. I can't believe that man got re-elected. Half of this country decided to give him another 4 years to completely destroy us. It's unbelievable.

I made a comment on Facebook this morning about the 'stupid liberals' and I was put down for it. I know I shouldn't have said that. And I am sorry that I had resulted to doing the same as others have in this campaign. Name calling.

Now I need to move on... concentrate on each day... and leave the future in God's hands. I did my part, what I could do, and that's all anyone can do. The rest is out of my control.

Our weather was beautiful today... lots of sunshine. It was still chilly, high of 48°, but all in all, not bad. The rest of the week is suppose to be really nice, in the 60's. I just may go for a walk tomorrow.

I was doing a load of laundry this morning when I got an email from my employer. He sent me a list of personal property his client is selling at the auction Nov. 24th. I had to call him, then finished my housework before I went into work mode. I spent the afternoon working on the advertising and the scheduling with the newspapers, until it was time for supper. I fixed some fish and vegetables, cleaned up the kitchen, then sat down to relax in front of this computer.

I'm so thankful for a loving God and Savior. He has opened my eyes and heart to His love. He literally saved my life and He's walked with me every day since.

Take care.
God bless.

Election Day....

My post is going to have Wed.'s date, but it's only 3 minutes past midnight. And I've been watching the election results. It's not looking good.

We voted this afternoon and I was amazed at the voter turn-out. In our town of 20,000 people, we've never had to stand in line to get our ballots. Today was awesome. The large building was packed with people. We had to wait to get into a booth. There was a constant flow of cars coming and going. I've never seen anything like it before. Our county is mostly Republican, so I hope those are the ones I saw today.

I  got a double treat today. After casting our vote, we went out to eat. It's always been a tradition for us on any election day, but I didn't think we were going to today since we ate out the other day. But he said yes.

I've taken on my hubby's habit of channel surfing. There's nothing good on TV right now. Every other channel has election coverage. All their early predictions is driving me crazy. But it's like a bad accident… you don't want to look but you can't help it. Right now, in my state of Ohio which is a big swing state, they're still saying "its too close to call". Oh, Lord, help us.

I know it's still early for the official results, but everyone is saying Obama won. If that's true, and we find that Ohio went Dem. again, like what happened in 2008, my hubby says we're moving. TX and my brother……… here we come!

I think I could cry, but I'll wait till morning. They might have the official results then.

Good night…. God, I know you have this in your hands…. help us.

Monday, Nov. 5, 2012

What is wrong with people these days (present company excluded, of course)? There is just no common sense anymore. People won't  take responsibility for their actions.  And they never think of the consequences of their actions. It's crazy.

Then I read a news article like this:  yesterday a 43 yr. old woman set her 2 yr. old child on the railing of the zoo pit of African dogs. The child fell 11 ft. into the pit and of course the dogs were on him immediately. The coroner said he wasn't sure if it was the fall that killed him or the dogs. Now how stupid was that? Makes me sick. That poor baby.

I went out to the shop today and got my hair cut. I used to work with the gal that does my hair, so I have a standing appointment with her once a month. The one thing I do for myself. Plus I get to hear all the local gossip. :)

I then came home and fixed supper. We had beef stir-fry with rice.  The dishes were done and the kitchen was cleaned. Since then I have spent the entire evening on Facebook, chatting with friends, watching videos and playing games. I noticed, after several yawns, it's almost time for bed.

Tomorrow is election day…. if you didn't already know that.  Bob and I will go to the polls in the morning to cast our votes for a new president. I have a feeling that the results of this election may not be officially known for several weeks. I've seen articles and pictures of the Black Panthers outside some polling places. Can anyone say 'intimidation' ? Then there's the UN Monitors. They're in several states. To monitor citizens when they go in to vote? I don't think so. Why are they here? I've never had a good feeling about that. So, if you still need to go vote tomorrow, be safe.

Until later…
take care. God bless.

Sunday's Random Thoughts

Today's blog I've titled "random thoughts". My thoughts are all over the board today. So many things rushing in and out.

Feeling blue, in the text books,  is defined as being sad or unhappy, for me, it's often just that feeling my mother called "the blahs".  I'm not depressed, sad, or fearful. It's just 'the blahs'.

From a friend: "Any politician who can be elected only by turning Americans against other Americans is too dangerous to be elected."

I turned the oven on to heat up. I'm thinking the sweet smell of chocolate chips cookies coming from the kitchen will help my mood. Thankfully I have a box of those little frozen squares of cookie dough we bought from our grandson's  sport fund raiser and I don't have to mix all the ingredients. Don't have the energy for that today.

We got an extra hour today, to do what we want, either creative or lazy. I chose to be lazy and spent it in bed. Now I'm beginning to think that wasn't a good idea. It may have contributed to my mood.

What to fix for supper?

It's so dark and gloomy today we had to turn on some lights. I hate days like this. The temperature right now is only 39° and down to 30° tonight.  Already I'm feeling the effects of the cold air. It hurts.

I'm trying something different for this blog. I'm writing it in a program called One Note, a Microsoft program that came with my MS Office. So many times when I open the web site to type up a blog, my head goes empty, blank. This way I can come in to my desk and type what might come to me when I'm in the kitchen or bathroom. Some of my best ideas come to me when I'm in the bathroom.  hahaha

Supper is over and the kitchen is clean.  We ended up having hamburgers.  That's what Bob wanted. I think I could become a vegetarian because meat doesn't taste good to me anymore. I do like fish and chicken, and I definitely like vegetables and salads. I just have to make sure I get enough protein.

Two more days! I can't wait for all these campaign commercials to stop. I'm getting so tired of hearing Obama's lies.

Day 4:  This may sound silly at first, but I'm thankful for my brain… for being able to think, calculate, recognize, understand, communicate,  for which I also thank God every day for giving me this ability and pray it will always be this way. I've watched people die from Alzheimer, including a family member. It's such a horrible disease, it breaks my heart.

OK, that's enough for today. I hope you've had a good one.
Take care.
God bless.

Sat. Nov. 3, 2012

Turn the clocks back tonight before you go to bed.  (I'm just reminding  myself. lol)

Hubby and I went out to eat last night at our favorite little restaurant on Main Street.  Friday's buffet is always seafood and being that I love fish, I naturally ate more than I should have. But it was so good.  Tonight I cleaned out the refrigerator and we had left-overs. I didn't feel like cooking.

Today was a quiet day for us. I did a load of laundry and took care of a few chores around the house. Then I played on the computer. That was about all I got accomplished today.

I can't think of anything else to write about. When my days consists of just 4 walls and a TV, there's not much to report. So, I'll finish this with:

Things I'm thankful for:

#3… For having a warm, comfortable home, for the roof over my head and the security it gives me. So many people don't have this 'luxury' .

Take care.
God bless.

Sunny Friday

Our weather today could be better, but I'll take it. The sun is shining so pretty. But the wind is cold. Our expected high is only 43° and down to 30° tonight.

I can't help but think about all the people on the east coast who have no home right now due to hurricane Sandy. I heard on the morning news that they estimate over 20,000 in just one section of New York still stranded and waiting for rescue. I can remember when Katrina came up from the Gulf, all the horrible stories coming out of it. There's so much violence in our country already, but in disasters like these, it's even worse. The things people will do. It awful.

In 1997 I took a job in a real estate office doing secretarial work for the agents, taking care of their paperwork, scheduling, and PR. One of the agents, Daryl, is also an auctioneer. When the broker retired, she shut down her office. All of the agents scattered to the winds, some transferred their licenses to other broker offices. Daryl did too, but his auction business remained solely with him, working out of his home. And he asked me to stay with him. I've been working for him ever since. One of my jobs is advertising. And when he has auctions scheduled each weekend in a single month, it can get pretty hectic. Then when you have one of the newspapers mess up an ad badly, it makes for an unhappy auctioneer. Our local paper did just that yesterday. I was on the phone bright and early this morning with our ad rep, detailing all the mistakes they made. Just one aspect of my job.

My hubby just informed me that we are going out for supper later. Wahoo! I get a holiday! We don't eat out as often as we used to, so when it happens, it's a real treat for me. Silly, isn't it?

We have one stop to make before we go eat. Our 2 youngest grandsons have asked for something for Christmas that I'm having trouble finding. They love football and each one has a different favorite team. They want T-shirts with their team's logo on it. I didn't think it would be this hard to find them (NY Jets and NY Giants). We're going to check out a little store in town that does a lot of that, but she usually only handles iron-ons for local teams, like the high schools around here and OSU. But I'll see if she can help me.

I decided to join the season challenge of listing things I'm thankful for. Since I missed yesterday, I'm naming 2 today, so I can get caught up with everyone.
What I'm thankful for:

1.  My family... for loving me, being there for me, showing me love, and understanding my crazy ways. And for forgiving me of all my past mistakes.

2.  My health. Even tho' I'm now called a senior citizen, I am so thankful my health is good, with only a couple minor problems.  I thank God daily for this.

I hope you are having a good day.
Take care.
God bless.
