Movies

Today was a beautiful day. The temperature got up to a whopping 60° !! It felt so good to be able to get out and walk around, soaking up some of the sun's rays on the face.

As Bob and I were getting ready to wash up the dishes from supper, he asked if I'd like to take a walk. He didn't have to beg me. I had my shoes on and ready before he could put the left-overs in the refrigerator.

We didn't go very far, being the first day out after such a long winter indoors. We did go around several blocks. It felt so good. Habitat for Humanity is building a house a couple blocks over from us. We've been hearing the trucks and backhoes so we walked over to get a closer look at their progress. Won't be long before a family will be moving in.

A couple years ago I read a book called "Heaven is for Real". I loved the true story of 4 yr. old Colton and his trip to heaven. When he came back, he started telling his parents, in little bits and pieces, the things he saw, the people he talked to and the white horse that only Jesus can ride. Of course, everyone was in shock and didn't want to believe him. However, his father, Pastor Burpo, a small town Nebraska preacher, began to believe Colton's stories. He then wrote a book to share Colton's story.

Now they've made a movie about it and it's coming out in the theaters over Easter.



Did you read the book? Do you want to see the movie? I'm not sure if I do. I'm afraid Hollywood has ruined the story, like they do so many times. Example: "Noah" the movie. It's going to be in the theaters soon. However, the producer himself said this is just an "old story" and that it's the most 'un-biblical' Biblical movie ever made. Plus he's an atheist.

There's another movie in the theaters now titled "God's Not Dead". That one I want to see. I want to see how one college student handles his atheist professor (played by Kevin Sorbo) and the assignment he's been given to do.

Simply Saturday

This is going to be short and sweet. Not much has been happening around here. I did get a little energetic and baked some cookies.

And while they were still warm, I made a cup of coffee to go with them.... put my feet up and relaxed. 

The cup was a gift from my sister-in-law for my birthday. I've helped her a few times with her computer. I laugh and think of her every time I see the cup. It takes 2 hands to hold it. See Bob's coffee cup next to it? Also a gift -- from one of the grandsons.

Today's been another dark, rainy, cold day. We even had some sleet and snow. So, I've just been playing all day. I did get in some practice.

When I said I didn't do much today, I meant it. This was my supper. Bob heated up a bowl of the left-over casserole for his.

I'm still having trouble with my prescription for the migraine. I'm still jittery and my eyesight is blurry. My doctor told me this would probably happen, but to give it a couple weeks and if I don't get better,  to call her. Each day it is a little better.

Bob and I went out to WalMart yesterday and I had to push the cart because of my balance and eyes. But after we had been there awhile, things got better for me and I gave him back his cart. hahaha He loves to be in control.

My grandson Ian was on cloud 9 this morning at the bowling awards presentation. He and his team took several trophies home. They got city champs, league champs, and Ian took boys high game. He loves sports and has tried playing them all, but when it came to getting on a bowling league, he found his niche and he loves it. We're all so proud of him.

Thursday Throwback - Mearl

Today's Throwback journey takes us to 1954......... 

All the years I was growing up, I was so fortunate to have a Great-Grandmother in my life. I was very close to her, spending many hours at her house. She taught me so many things -- about being a lady, how to take care of a home, etc. She also taught me how a lady rolls her own cigarettes. First you have to pull down the blinds on all the windows. 

Every spring I would go over to her house and help with the spring cleaning. It was hard work. The wallpaper in each room had to wiped down with a doughy mixture. All the lace curtains were taken down, washed, then stretched out on wooden frames to dry. I always managed to come home with sore finger tips. 

She lived most of her life alone in the same house where she and my great-grandfather lived. They were only married 23 yrs when he died in 1919. Grandma died in her home on Sept. 8, 1963 at the age of 85.

Hodgepodge for 3/26/2014

It's Wednesday again and that means Joyce's Hodgepodge of questions! If you'd like to join in, click on the link HERE to see how.

1. March is known as the windy month. Which of the following phrases best fits your March so far...'throw caution to the wind', 'three sheets to the wind', 'run like the wind', or 'see which way the wind blows'?

"See which way the wind blows". We've been thrown into some financial problems and some big decisions need to be made. Hubby and I are waiting to see which way to go, but we both know that it's all in God's hands and He will lead us and provide for our needs.

2. Your favorite green food? Your favorite dish made with your favorite green food?

Green beans. My favorite way of fixing them is in a pot with potatoes and ham.

3. Ever been locked out of your home-car-office-anywhere? Do tell!

I'm usually good about precautions to prevent this from happening. However, I did manage to lock myself out of the house one day, with my 3 small daughters. What did I do? I knew one of the windows on the back of the house wasn't locked shut, so I got the window open and lifted one of my girls in so she could go open the door.

4. Yoda, Kermit, Shrek, The Wicked Witch of the West, Oscar the Grouch, The Grinch, or Mike Wasowski (Monsters Inc.)... of the green characters listed, which one's your favorite and why?

Shrek.... when the DVD first came out, I rented it so my young grandson could watch it. I can't say Shrek is one of my favorites, but the time I spent sitting with Curtis, watching his little face and hearing his laughter.... that was priceless. That's what makes it a favorite. 

5. "The first task of a leader is to keep hope alive."~Joe Batten Do you agree? Why or why not?

I agree. A leader is responsible for those under him and if he hasn't instilled any hope of success, they are like leaves flailing in the wind with no direction.

6. Share a favorite song with an emotion in it's title.

"I Can Only Imagine"  Whenever I hear this song I feel it in my spirit and the tears will flow. 




7. What's a road trip you'd like to take?

I love road trips. I don't have to be going any place or direction in particular. Just pack an over-night bag and get in the car. I like taking, what I call, "photo trips". We have to take the back roads, of course. No Interstate highways for us. My camera is in my lap and my driver has the wheel while I'm looking out the windows. There's so, so, much out there to see and shoot. Sadly, it's been years since I've done this, but every year when the winter fades away and everything comes back to life, I begin to get the desire to go.

I read an article earlier, posted by Redbook, and I had to chuckle a little. It was about interviews with today's husbands and their top complaints. In retrospect, men aren't really any different than women. We all want the same things from our mate.... well, almost.

"I wish she'd appreciate me a little more."

"When you're dating, it's all about having fun together. But so much of that goes away once you're married."

"I know I'm at fault too, and that I sometimes take her for granted, but I resent my wife for always being the responsible one."

"I've been referred to by more than one woman as an incurable romantic. Unfortunately, my wife is no longer romantic, and I feel like my best quality is unappreciated."

"My wife was more voracious and sexually experienced than me when we first met, but once we moved in together, it's like she flipped the switch to off."

"I thought I was being the good guy by letting her make all the decisions at home, but I've since realized that it's one of the reasons why she's fed up with me."

Just tidbits today

So far, today seems to be one of those days where my head / my thoughts are very busy. All sorts of stuff flying through.

1) My son-in-law's mother, Barb, is doing very well. It seems once the doctor got in there, he changed his mind about putting a stint near her heart. She is home. Thank you for your prayers.

2) My daughter, Teresa, is also doing much better. Her wrist has healed from the procedure they did 2 weeks ago and is back doing 100% with her client's massages. Thank you for the prayers for her.

3) We just saw our first robin of the season!! It's always exciting to see that first one. Now I know spring weather will be here soon. I just hope the little guys don't freeze tomorrow night when it gets down to 17°.

4) There wasn't anything interesting on TV last night so I watched Netflix... a movie titled "Healing Hands: The True Story of Ben Carson". It was very good.

5) I can see today is going to be a 'no-diet diet'. I woke up hungry and I'm still hungry. Nothing seems to satisfy me. I'm craving something but I don't know what it is.

6) Today is a very cloudy day. Temperature is 39°. It's so dark in here, I have to have the lights on.

7) Hubby's in the living room trying to put new songs on his MP3 player. I'm just waiting for him to holler for help. This time I'm letting him figure it out on his own. When I do it for him, he doesn't learn how. I'm so mean.
UPDATE: He got lost. I ended up doing it while he watched over my shoulder. hahaha

8) What's with all these 'pretzel' rolls? I see commercials all the time of a fast-food place now has burger on a pretzel roll. I'm guessing they're healthier, but how would that taste? Have you had one?

9) I have to study some time today. I really should.

10) I haven't seen any of my grandkids in the last couple weeks. I miss those little faces.

Springy Hodgepodge 3-19-2014

It's Wednesday already? It seems like I just wrote up answers to the last one. My days are going way to fast. Anyways, here's my thoughts for today's Hodgepodge. I hope you'll enjoy and come back again.

1. Thursday marks the first day of spring...to celebrate would you rather plant a garden or go for a walk in the woods? Would either of those activities be possible on Thursday where you live?

I would rather get out for a nice long walk (no woods around here, just neighbors). Our winter has been so crazy, I've spent most of the time cooped up in the house. I'm just dying to get out and see some wide open spaces. I'm anxious to get some flowers for my beds out front, but will it be possible to do either Thursday? No. We still have snow on the ground and it's suppose to rain. That will help melt the remainder of the snow.

2. When did someone last spring something on you? (or when did you last spring something on someone?)

Our only grand-daughter told us a couple weeks ago we were going to be great-grandparents! I'm so excited! We haven't had a little one in the family in 8 years. I get to buy those tiny little socks and frilly little dresses! I sure hope it's a girl. Hollie's 22 then the 6 grandsons (ages 21-8), so I haven't bought a little dress in over 20 years!!! 

3. We often think of spring as a time for new beginnings. What's something you'd like to start doing this spring?

I'm sure everyone has said this before, and definitely have heard it many times, but I will be getting more exercise in my daily routine and getting healthier. I've been letting myself get lazy.

4. Where do you like to sit in a movie theatre? When did you last sit there, and what were you watching?

I love movies, but I haven't been to a theater in years. Hubby refuses to go. When I did go, I always liked to sit in the center section, half way down, along the aisle. The last time I went, I took my mother to see the movie "Benji" that she wanted to see so bad. She loved it. Does that tell you how long it's been for me?

5. When you meet someone for the very first time, what do you want them to think about you?

I hope they see a kind, gentle woman who would do anything for her friends.

6. March is frozen food month (yes, really!). Besides ice cream (gotta make you think a little) what's your most often purchased frozen food item?

Frozen vegetable. And lots of them.

7. What's something you avoid?

Confrontations.

What's been on my mind so much lately...... After 67 years, I've finally had one of my dreams come true. Thanks to a very special lady and now a good friend, I'm taking piano lessons from her, online. However, I've gotten to the point where it's time for me to move up to a real piano. She's gotten me almost as far as I want to go on the little electronic keyboard my husband bought for me a few years ago. Oh, I'm not complaining one little bit. I'm ecstatic.  If it hadn't been for my husband's gift and his encouragement, plus Julie, her instruction and patience, and the internet, I wouldn't be where I am now. 

Now, I'm trying to find a good used piano, putting the word out to everyone I know. So far, nothing. I know there's one out there for me. I'm praying the Lord will lead me to it, and soon. hahaha Am I impatient? Ummmm............ 

Finally Friday

What a busy week!! It's been a good week tho'. My brother and his family from Texas have been here for a visit and we've had a good time together. However, last evening, our last time together before they all head for home, wasn't good. But more on that later...

The reason for their trip to Ohio this time of year is for David's in-law's anniversary party. Each year Becky's family throws a huge party for her parents. While they're here, they always stay at her parent's home in Antwerp because they have more bedrooms than I have. Consequently, I only see my brother when he can drive the 30 miles to my house, which is about every other day.

David, his son and his 2 children were planning to come see us Wed., but the weather forced them to stay in Antwerp. We had another big snow storm move in Tuesday night and by Wed. afternoon, when it was all said and done, we had icy roads, strong winds, white-outs, big drifts closing off some roads and 7 more inches of snow on the ground. David remembers how to drive on this, but it's been awhile, so I told them not to try the drive here. "We should be able to get together Thursday", and we did. I almost wished I'd have stayed home tho'.

I can count on one hand the number of times any of my family's actions in public have ever ashamed or embarrassed me, and never with my own children. I hate the feeling terribly and I'll always try to remedy the situation immediately, if I can. Last evening I couldn't fix it. And it was bad.

We had planned to meet up with our sister when she got off work. We all met at our favorite restaurant. I knew her husband would probably join us, but I didn't think she had invited her 'whole' family... 6 more adults and 5 children (my sister's grandchildren). The 4 girls... all age 5 and 6 (old enough to know better) ... were horrible. They CONSTANTLY made loud noises, those kind that drive you crazy, and they ran around the tables, grabbed the adult's arms wanting to wrestle, and rolling on the floor. And not one adult stopped it!! I sat there and bit my tongue the whole evening. Finally I couldn't take it anymore and put my coat on to leave. I kept hoping the manager would come out and tell them to quiet down. Now I just hope I can show my face in there again. I'll just tell the girls when I go through the door .... "Bob and I are alone this time!"

OK, enough of my rant for today.

1. Do you have an interest in learning about your family's heritage? Why or why not? If you know a little bit about your roots, share an interesting piece of trivia or a fun fact about someone who goes way back on your family tree.

I love genealogy research. I've been working on my family for years. For the most part, it's been very interesting. As for a fun fact or piece of trivia, I'm not sure I have one right now. So many things I've found about our families has been interesting, but only to us.

2. Branch Rickey, the baseball exec credited with signing Jackie Robinson, is quoted as saying-

"Luck is the residue of design.

Agree or disagree? Why?

I do not believe in Luck. I believe in God laying out a path for us but we are each responsible for making our own decisions. If we follow His guidance, that's a blessing and has nothing to do with luck.

3. In the town where you currently reside, what's your favorite green space?

In our little town here in Ohio, we have very few places I call a green space. Jubilee Park, just a few blocks from my house, was built around existing trees, which are beautiful in the fall. There is a large pond stocked with fish and a few years ago a group built a butterfly house which now draws in many beautiful butterflies of all colors. That's always fun to walk down and watch them in the summer.

4. Who is your favorite comedian?

I'm afraid there is no longer any comedians that I listen to. The language and jokes have turned so ugly and vulgar. That's not funny to me.

5. March is National Nutrition Month, and almost everyone needs to improve their diet in some way. What about you? How can you improve your nutrition on a daily basis? Will you try?

I've been slowly changing our eating habits but just slowly so Hubby doesn't suffer from withdrawal. hahaha Personally, I need to cut back on the starches and sugar. I've done so with red meats because of my cholesterol levels, and I'm working on the others.

6. Which of these green expressions have you 'experienced' in recent weeks -green with envy, green thumb, green around the gills, or give the green light? Explain.

I don't envy people; I don't have a green thumb; I haven't been sick in awhile; I can't remember giving the green light on anything recently. I lead a rather dull life, don't I?

7. Where is one place you don't mind waiting?

This probably sounds weird to some, but I don't mind it in the doctor's waiting room. I'll sit and eavesdrop on conversations. Some are funny. But usually I'll take my Kindle with me and enjoy reading my book while I wait. Often times I will learn who the killer is while I wait.

Tired Tuesday

My past couple days have been very busy, but very nice. My brother David and his family are here from Texas for a visit this week. This time he brought his son with them. We haven't seen Mitchel in years. It's been so much fun talking with him again.

Yesterday I tried to get everyone together for a nice visit, but our daughter Lisa and her family couldn't make it. Daughter Lori and her family were here over the weekend and they got to see them for a couple hours before they had to head back to Michigan for their jobs and school today. We did have a great time.

We went up to our favorite restaurant last night. Our youngest daughter Teresa and 2 youngest grandsons, Marxon 9 and Bryan 7, went with us. We got a table in the back for all 9 of us. Marxen wanted to sit down at the end of the table. As he sat there waiting patiently for his food, he kept looking around at the people, acting a little more quiet than usual. Right before our food came, he walked around and whispered something to his mother. She got into her purse and handed him some money. It was part of his allowance money he's been saving for something special he wants. When the waitress came around to his end of the table, he said something to her and handed his $5 bill to her. All we heard was her say "of course, I'll take care of it". I figured out what he was doing. The rest of the family looked around at us with strange expressions on their faces.

Across the room sat a man that Bob and I have known for years. Jim is a Viet Nam veteran and always wears a cap that says so on the front. The waitress went to his table and handed him a receipt that said his bill was paid in full. He asked by who and she told him. As he got up to leave, he came over to our table, walking with the help of his walker, and talked to our grandson who looked up at him with the sweetest expression on his face and said, "you're welcome and thank you for your service to our country". I think Jim could have cried. He acted so surprised. He told Marxen that a 9 year old boy had never done anything like that for him. He patted Marxen on the shoulder and left. I looked at my husband and he had tears in his eyes, our daughter did too. We had to explain to my brother and the others what Marxen had done. They were all speechless. My brother said he'd never heard of such a thing. Our daughter said "that's my son".

We're all suppose to meet up with our sister Marilyn tomorrow when she gets off work, but now I'm wondering if we'll be able to. The weather forecast is for another winter storm. No one seems to know what we should be expecting tho'. We've heard everything from just rain, or rain and sleet, or 3-5" of snow. Some are even saying 8-10" of snow possible.

Sassy Saturday

We had the whole family here for supper tonight and we had a great time. Our 3 daughters were in good form. When we get them together, it's so much fun. I think the neighbors could have heard the laughter. A lot of the conversation started out with 'do you remember the time'. Our grand-daughter was sitting at the table with her fiance, listening to some of these for the first time. Then she'd tell him "now you know where I get it". I miss those times with my girls so much. I'd even go back to when they were teenagers and do it all over again. Oh, my! What am I saying? hahaha

Our weather turned real crappy today. I worried about #2 daughter driving down from Michigan. It started out with rain and fog, then heavy rain that turned into a mixture of rain and snow, then all snow. Crazy. But it all ended quietly with no accumulation.

Yesterday I mentioned on here about an old childhood friend I connected with again and how great it was to talk to her again. We've been spending the last few weeks on the phone and emails, catching up. I was asked where she lived and what are the chances of getting together with her. She's 1,000 miles away in Riverview, FL. She and her husband still have family here and she says they may be coming to Ohio in a couple months. Then we'll be able to spend a couple days together. We're both looking forward to it.

'Twister' ... I'm watching this movie again, for the umpteenth time. I just wanted to sit down and relax when this came on. I've got to see the ending before I can go to bed.

Friday Five

Many times when I sit down to write up a blog, I can babble on about lots of different things, but when I have to specifically choose just 5 things, I'm at a loss. Crazy. But I'll try.

1) Our weather.... the temperatures here in Ohio are beginning to look very favorable. It's going to be up to 60° this weekend!!! Yippeee!! I'd like to think that ALL of this snow will melt away. This morning the huge icicles that were hanging from the spouting, that Bob couldn't reach, fell off with a crash. The sun feels warm. Now I'm even more ready for spring.







2) Our 11 yr. old grandson.... Ian loves to bowl. The last few weeks he's had high series for his team. He's gotten his name in the paper every week.

I was amazed at how much he loves the game and how well he's doing. Our family has had several birthday parties for the kids at the bowling alley and everyone has so much fun. Even the little ones did good rolling the heavy balls down the alley. They are so cute to watch.

3) Last evening I was practicing a new piece of music and it was going fairly well. I knew Hubby was in the kitchen, but he was very quiet, like he was standing in one spot and not moving. I didn't think much of it until I finished and he stepped into the room to tell me how I continue to amaze him at the progress I'm making.  His comment made me feel so good, I haven't been able to think of much else. It was the look on his face (pride?) and the tone of his voice (love). Something like that just means so much and encourages me want to work even harder. It also makes me wish I had gotten this kind of encouragement when I was a child. My parents weren't good at that sort of thing, but they were good at telling me "you can't do that".

4) Time changes Sunday.... it's that time of year again. We're losing one hour of sleep Sat. night, but think of the rewards. More sun light this summer to be outside, go for long walks, etc.

Don't forget to change your clocks before you go to bed tomorrow night.

Thurs. March 6, 2014

Another day has flown by. I feel as though I've been running 40 mph all day. I'm ready to go to bed.

I was just watching The Kelly Files and she was talking about Lois Lerner, former head of the IRS. What do you think of the woman pleading the 5th amendment and refusing to answer anymore questions regarding the matters of the hearing? What is she hiding?

Daughter #2 and her family are coming down this weekend so I'm getting all my girls and the grandkids over for Sat. supper. I'm not doing a large meal this time. I just don't feel good enough for that much work. They're going to get sandwiches and other finger foods. And I'm baking a cake. That's it.

Then my brother and his family from TX will be here Monday so it looks like I'll be cleaning the house on Sunday. I don't like having to do that, but I'm sure after my kids, the house will definitely need it.

A couple weeks ago I made contact with one of my grade school friends. We were neighbors for 12 years, grew up together, did everything together. She was so surprised to get my letter and since then we've been on the phone and email back and forth almost daily. It's been so much fun catching up on the last --- 50 years! She's the same as she was. That first conversation on the phone was like we have not been apart all this time. I've learned that's a good sign.... there was a true friendship there that hasn't died. It's been great. She's made me feel young and important.

I'm calling it a night. Going to bed. Hope you have a great tomorrow.

I just got some very good news….. I'm going to be a great-grandma! (first time) I wasn't too surprised. They've been going together for quite awhile and engaged the last few months. Old-fashion that I am, I'd like to see them move up the wedding to …. Maybe …. Ummm …….. Next week? Lol  I think Hollie and Cass will be a good parents. 

I'm so excited! A new little one to hold and nuzzle. It's been so long. I miss that smell and the feel of one in my arms.  Our 'baby' is 7 yrs. old. And since we have 6 grandsons, I'd love to have a little girl. Maybe this one I can buy little dresses and cute pink things. Hollie, being our only grand-daughter was such a tom-boy, she didn't like that frilly stuff once she knew the different between jeans and dresses. She had a real hissy fit.  lol

I've had another busy day. I was up most of the night, couldn't sleep. I think the sun was coming up by the time my eyes closed.  But remarkably I felt good when I did get up. I got a load of laundry done, then went out in the cold to keep my hair appointment. I hadn't seen her in 2 months and I couldn't wait to get my hair cut. When I got home, I tore my office apart and cleaned it, then I sat down for an hour before I threw together a chicken and rice casserole for supper. After we had all the dishes done, I did get in an hour of practice. Now I'm tired. I think I may be able to sleep tonight.

We had lots of sunshine today, but was it ever cold. It got down to minus 5 last night and didn't climb up much during the afternoon. Bob kept asking me if I was sure I wanted to go out in this, and it actually didn't bother me. Of course the car was warmed up for me and I parked in front of the door to the shop. It just felt good to get some fresh air.

Sun. March 2, 2014

We had another storm come through overnight, but we really can't complain this time. We do have about 4" of snow that still needs to be moved out of the way, especially on the back deck, but the forecast yesterday was predicting a lot more. 

Now we're going into more frigid temperatures, down to minus 3 tonight. I'm feeling optimistic  tho' that spring is on the way. The temperatures this weekend is suppose to be in the 40's. That will feel warm to us. 

I hate having trouble with the neighbors and I'll avoid a confrontation at all cost. However, when they've over-stepped their boundaries, someone has to inform them. We had such a day Friday. Our neighbor's house is built backwards, I think anyways, or it was remodeled that way … their front door is on the side facing our driveway. Consequently their company thinks OUR driveway is theirs, so it's nothing for them to park at the end and block all cars from coming in or leaving. Teresa went to school with the girl next door, so she went over to talk to her. They wouldn't come to the door. Teresa put a note on the car and her and I went on to town. When we got back from running her errands, the car was gone. Bob got them to answer the door for him and they moved it right away when they heard his tone of voice. My point is…. No matter whose drive it is, that's still inconsiderate, (doing only what benefits you and to heck with anymore else) which seems to be very common these days.

Teresa posted this on her Facebook page yesterday:

"Just when you think the world is full of selfish, ungrateful, disrespectful people that always have their hand out and just take from you, a complete stranger at Kewpee buys me and my son dinner without saying a word to me."  I think her faith in humanity may have changed a slight bit. There are still good, caring people out there.  Maybe that person felt she needed a blessing. And she did. (This is the daughter that needs wrist surgery.) 

Kewpee has the best hamburgers and milk shakes around and, when in season, a strawberry pie that would make my grandmother a fan. Teresa and I love eating there. 

Today was a quiet Sunday and I've done very little. I tried to practice but my brain isn't working today. We watched a movie this afternoon then I fried some fish for supper. It tasted so good. I love fish and can get a craving for it any time of the day. Now I'm just going to play the rest of the evening.  Hope you've had a great day.

Welcome to March!! I'm still waiting for any signs of spring.

Daughter #2 had her surgery Thursday and did just fine. She went in at 10:30 and was home by 1:30. She could have left sooner but the anesthesia made her sick to her stomach, so they kept her a little longer. She's doing just fine now.

Hubby's dinner Thursday  night wasn't too bad. It was a recipe he saw on Facebook called cheeseburger pie. I let him make the whole dish. I was going to help, but our daughter and her husband called to tell us about her surgery and how she was doing. By the time I got off the phone, he had it in the oven. After the first few bites, he called the recipe a 'keeper'.  I made notes on how to improve it next time. :)

Yesterday was a busy one. I didn't get any of the things done that I had planned, including practicing. Those kinds of days fly by too fast.

#3 daughter called to tell me she was on her way to town to take care of some errands and would I ride along with her. I knew it was her way of saying I need to talk to you, without Dad. She had come by last Wednesday so upset and full of tears over something, but didn't want to talk about it at the time. So I let her calm down and waited until she was able to talk about it. She told me yesterday.

She's had pain in her right wrist for some time now and being a massage therapist it kept getting worse until she went back to the Dr. and had an MRI. She got the report Wed. She needs surgery. She has torn ligaments and cysts building up in it. If she doesn't have the surgery soon, she will lose the use of her hand. She kept saying her career was over. If you would, she needs lots of prayer.

We got all of her errands done and she took off for home to pick up the boys from school. An hour later, hubby gets a phone call, makes a few calls then tells me he has to run out to the Elks to meet some guys about the NRI raffle. I grabbed my Kindle and rode along with him. Then we ran out to the ATM and picked up some sandwiches on the way home. By the time we ate our 'nutritious' dinner, I was too tired to do anything else. I watched some TV then went to bed.

Everyone has their eyes on the weather channel -- again. There's another snow storm coming our way. It's to hit us late tonight. As of last night, they're predicting 3-5" or possibly 10-12" of snow. Bob got gas for the snow blower, getting prepared for whatever comes our way. We'll have to wait and see. But this could mean several more days of confinement. I'm so sick of this.

My doctor got a new wall hanging in one of his exam rooms. I like it.
